According to records, the Lankershim Reading Room was constructed as a one-story, octagon-shaped building made of redwood in a vernacular Folk-Victorian style. The 21-foot-wide structure had redwood paneling, an eight-sided roof made of composite wood, double French doors, and an original redwood floor. Charming sash โ€œpocketโ€ windows slid down into the other seven panels of the octagon, which allowed for an open-air gazebo effect. Original carriage lights added additional character. The reading room was approximately 400 square feet.
