Get to know some of the long-forgotten individuals who developed the SFV. Learn why some streets honor their loved ones while others were left to civil engineers and their “idea files”. This talk is guaranteed to enlighten you about the street names you’ve always wondered about – from Kittridge to Klump, Paxton to Parthenia, Zelzah to Zitto, and many more.

Mark Tapio Kines graduated from CalArts in 1992 and has worked as a graphic designer, art director, and freelance writer. He has written and directed two independent feature films and several award-winning shorts. He started working on his passion project, L.A. Street Names, in May 2020 and has investigated and written about the origins of street names across Los Angeles County, with nearly 1,700 completed write-ups so far. He is a docent at the historic Virginia Robinson Gardens in Beverly Hills. Mark lives in West Hollywood with his wife and cats.
